Intense Solar Proton Flares Observed With New Multi-Frequency Solar Radio Spectropolarimeter Solar Radio Spectropolarimeter, aka SRSP, in the Northern Caucausus, commissioned in March 2025, carried a series of observations of intense X-class solar flares in November 2025. Preliminary results of the study were presented at the 21st conference "Plasma Physics in Solar System". Cyclone Over European Russia As Seen By Meteor-M No.2-3 Balkanian cyclone brought heavy snowfalls to European part of Russia on 19 February 2026. Its effect on the landscape from 17 to 19 February can be traced thanks to MSU-MR instrument aboard Meteor-M No. 2-3 satellite. Images are built with the help of BEGA-Science Information system developed at IKI. IKI instruments aboard Elektro-L No.5 On 12 February 2026 Proton-M rocket launcher with DM-03 booster lifted off from Baikonur cosmodrome, carrying Elektro-L No.5 mission for Earth remote sensing. Thr spacecraft was successfully inserted into geostationary orbit more than 35 thousand kilometer high. The Sun Sent to Earth Many Protons, But Not Very Energetic Strange events occurred near the Earth after solar flare X1.9 on 18 January 2026. That were the arrival of coronal mass ejection on 19 January, followed by record flux of solar protons and geomagnetic storm on 19–21 January. Mikhail Pavlinsky ART-XC telescope aboard Spektr-RG observatory studied the solar flare and the proton event in the vicinity of L2 Lagrange point. Spektr-RG Completed Nominal Mission January 13, 2026 Spektr-RG observatory marked 6.5 years since the day of its launch, which is also its guaranteed operational time. Today the observatory has successfully completed its nominal mission and continues studying the Universe in hard X-ray range.
