International Forum for Scientific Youth «Step into the Future», dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences, is underway in Moscow On March 25–29, 2024 . On March 26, the participants of the Forum's section on space and Earth science presented their talks at IKI.

Strong magnetic storm, reaching G4 level, stirred the Earth's magnetosphere on March 24, 2024. It started after the magnetic cloud reached the planet after it was emitted by the Sun as a result of a giant flare on March, 23. The storm's intensity started to decrease in an hour after the beginning, following the change of magnetic field direction in the cloud. Still, the geomagnetic environment remains disturbed,

The order was signed by Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia, on March 13, 2024.

On Thursday, February 29, 2024 Meteor-M 2.4 satellite was launched from Vostochnyi. The spacecraft was succesfully inserted into oribt.

After the first few days of observations a new X-ray source turned out to be a pulsar in a binary system with a low-mass companion.

The specimens of science and technology are items of national and cultural heritage of Russia.

On February 5–9, 2024 IKI hosted the 19th annual conference «Plasma Physics in Solar System».

The 2023 award is given for the works dedicated to the development and implementation of the projects under the Federal Space Program 1995–2023 in the field of space research.

State awards are given to IKI scientists — members of the Russian Academy of Sciences in recognition of their outstanding contribution to national science, seminal research actvity, and regarding the 300-year anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences!
