The first Russian Space Week was held from 6 to 12 April 2026, dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the first manned spaceflight. On 6 April the plenary session dedicated to scientific experiments aboard manned orbital stations took place at IKI. During the Week, IKI scientists participated in various scientific and popular events. The Week's final event at IKI was traditional Doors Open Day, this year together with Polytechnical Museum. 2026 Cosmonautics Day and IKI Doors Open Day During Space Week in Russia and on the eve of Cosmonautics Day (aka International Day of Human Space Flight), IKI RAS held its traditional open day for schoolchildren, students, and everyone interested in space. This year it was held jointly with the Polytechnic Museum, which prepared an extensive program of events for children and adults — the family festival “It's a Technology Matter: Space”. X-Ray Panorama of W50 'Manatee' Nebula Through the 'Eyes' of SRG/eROSITA Telescope Scientists from Russian consortium of SRG/eROSITA telescope carried out the most detailed study of W50 nebula with SS433 binary system. The paper presenting the results of the study was published in Astronomy&Astrophysics. 2026 Fritz Zwicky Prize for Astrophysics & Cosmology Awarded to Prof. Academician Rashid Sunyaev The European Astronomical Society and Frits Zwicky Foundation awarded the 2026 Fritz Zwicky Prize for Astrophysics & Cosmology to Prof. Academician Rashid Sunyaev for his pioneering work on the cosmic microwave background and the theory of disk accretion. «Step Into the Future» to the 35th Year Of the Program All-Russian Forum of Scientific Youth took place in Moscow on 23–27 March 2026, bringing together more than 900 young researchers from all over the country. «Make Way To Spring» Динамика вегетации озимых культур под урожай 2026 года в Республике Крым на спутниковых снимках. Intense Solar Proton Flares Observed With New Multi-Frequency Solar Radio Spectropolarimeter Solar Radio Spectropolarimeter, aka SRSP, in the Northern Caucausus, commissioned in March 2025, carried a series of observations of intense X-class solar flares in November 2025. Preliminary results of the study were presented at the 21st conference "Plasma Physics in Solar System". Cyclone Over European Russia As Seen By Meteor-M No.2-3 Balkanian cyclone brought heavy snowfalls to European part of Russia on 19 February 2026. Its effect on the landscape from 17 to 19 February can be traced thanks to MSU-MR instrument aboard Meteor-M No. 2-3 satellite. Images are built with the help of BEGA-Science Information system developed at IKI.
