На спутниковых снимках аппаратов Landsat (USGS) и Sentinel-2 (ESA), полученных в мае 2026 г., хорошо видно, как за считанные дни небольшой очаг горения превращается в масштабное бедствие. Снимки получены с помощью информационной системы «ВЕГА-Science».

Торжественное открытие выставки «ИНТЕРКОСМОС — Совет по международному сотрудничеству в области исследования и использования космического пространства при Академии наук СССР» состоялось 10 июня 2026 г. на полях 69-й сессии Комитета по мирному использованию космоса Организации Объединённых Наций, которая проходит 10 – 18 июня 2026 г. в Вене.

3 июня 2026 г. в ИКИ РАН были переданы образцы грунта, впервые в мире доставленные с обратной стороны Луны на Землю в 2024 г. китайским аппаратом «Чанъэ-6».

In the end of April and first half of May the final of the 11th International Competition of Scientific and Technological Projects "Big Challenges" took place. IKI RAS scientists evaluated the finalists' projects in the "Space Technologies" category as members of the jury and presented talks on modern space research and exploration.

Astrophysicists analyzed the data from three X-ray observatories to get the most detailed map of Perseus cluster.

IKI scientists together with Geoscan company started the project to build the small space observatory, which will get the images of the Sun.

Late April 2026 brought drastic cooling to the central part of European Russia. The cyclone 'in charge' for this weather change is seen on the images, processed with the help of VEGA-Science information system, developed at IKI.

XXIII Conference of Young Scientists on Space Research ended at IKI. It has brought together more than 400 young researchers from Russia and other countires, with more than 250 talks in the program.

Today, April 22, the world observes Earth Day — more precisely, International Mother Earth Day, established in 2009 by the UN General Assembly. Last Friday, IKI scientist Danila Gamkov took part in the international ecological patriotic campaign "Garden of Memory". A linden tree alley was planted in Golyanovsky Park in Moscow in honor of cosmonauts who took part in the Great Patriotic War. The action was also dedicated to the 65th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s flight into space.
