Black Hole Spins Lying on Its Side

Research

A black hole in the X-ray binary MAXI J1820+070 turned out to be strongly tilted with respect to the orbit of the binary. This discovery may have seroius implications for the measurements of black hole masses and spins from X-Ray observations. The results are published in Science on February 25, 2022.

Mission scenario to a dwarf planet Sedna was considered in a paper by IKI authors published by Advances in Space Research. Sedna, whose 10,000-year orbit reaches as far as inner Oort cloud, will pass its perihelion in 2075. It is perhaps the 'once-in-a-lifetime' chance to send the spacecraft to this object and wait for the results to come to the same generation.
