Meteor-M

28th February in Russia is Arctic Day. Satellite remote sensing data are crucial for those, who study and work here. IKI scientists develop special algorithms for satellite microwave radiometry and run subsatellite experiments to refine the models, which are used for data processing. Results of such experiment, organized together with Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute and Atomflot, are already included in the database of IKI-Monitoring center of collective use.

On Thursday, February 29, 2024 Meteor-M 2.4 satellite was launched from Vostochnyi. The spacecraft was succesfully inserted into oribt.

Scientists from IKI Earth Research From Space Department develop new algorithms for microwave radiometer data onboard the spacecraft of Meteor-M series. These results are alrady being integrated into VEGA-Science information system.

Scientists from IKI and V.I. Il'ichev Pacific Oceanological Institute (Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences) discussed the future work with Meteor-M No 2-3 satellite data.

First images by Satellite Multiband Imaging System (KMSS-2) onboard Meteor-M №2-3 meteosat show the shores of Turkey and Norway.

On Tuesday, June 27 Meteor-M №2-3 satellite was launched from Vostochny together with 42 small spacecraft.
